Almost one million streams on Spotify alone. A flourishing collaboration with Thomas Lemmer. The young teenager named Christoph Sebastian Pabst wouldn’t have dared dreaming of these things to happen back in the early 90s. At the time his parents got the family’s first piano. His sister was being educated in classical music, he however wasn’t. Thirsty for knowledge as Christoph was, he explored the instrument on his own. That’s his approach to this day. He lets his feelings and his sense of hearing guide him so that the harmonies can speak for themselves. “Sometimes I close my eyes und let my fingers just play. That’s how the best ideas come to me,” Christoph says and laughs.

Shortly after his parents got the piano, the family’s first computer became part of Pabst’s life: an Amiga 500. On a four-track sequencer he created his first songs and beats, which got him under the spell of electronic music. In the mid 90s he bought his first synthesizer and started producing spheric soundscapes. Together with a friend they teamed up with a DJ from Bremen, Germany and released their first songs on vinyl. Electronic, Ambient and House were the genres of the songs. Two years later they celebrated a huge label release party with hundreds of people in the audience.

In 2004 Pabst, a medical student then, first met Thomas Lemmer. “We exchanged ideas and sounds but then we lost sight of each other,” says Pabst. Due to his studies, family and kids he had to take a break from making music. It was only in 2014 when Pabst got in touch with Lemmer again. He sent him some older ideas along with the question if he wanted to make something of them. Lemmer was enthused and so “Pastellstrand“, their first song together came to life and was released on Thomas Lemmer’s album “Pure” in 2017 on the label Sine Music. “That was only the beginning of a great collaboration,” says Pabst.

They had new Chillout, Deephouse and Ambient ideas and in 2018 they already released their first EP “Meeresleuchten” together. The first release was quickly followed by their EP “Tiefblauhorizont”. They put together the songs of the EPs along with new tracks and created their first album “Meerblick” in 2019. In May 2020 their EP “Tiefschneegipfel” as well as in October their second album “Bergblick” were released. “During that time, we repeatedly had number-one songs in the World Chill Lounge Charts as well as top 10 songs in the Electronic Charts of Apple Music and iTunes,” Christoph proudly remembers. “The response was overwhelming!”. On top there are nearly one million streams on Spotify alone. “And the craziest thing is: I haven’t seen Thomas in person since 2004. We did all this via internet – meanwhile over the distance between Prien in Bavaria and Osnabrück in Northern Germany, where Thomas lives with his family.” To be continued!

In 2020 Pabst produced his first solo EP named “Time We Never Had”. He wrote and recorded these four wonderful tracks in his home studio. The EP will be released on the label Sine Music on April 2nd, 2021.
